Large companies are seeking solutions to reduce their energy bill and their carbon footprint. They notably have the option to purchase renewable energy capacity from electricity producers under long-term Power Purchase Agreements or alternatively to sign the photovoltaic self-consumption contracts introduced in France in 2016. The private PPA market now exists and is spreading throughout the world. In the United States, companies such as Google, Amazon and Procter & Gamble have switched to this type of purchasing.
