EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the commissioning of the Fallago Rig wind farm in Scotland by EDF Energy Renewables, one of the largest onshore wind farms to be built in the United Kindgom with a 144 MW installed capacity.

Located on the Lammermuir hills in the Scottish Borders, it comprises 48 turbines with a unit capacity of 3 MW supplied by Vestas. The wind farm’s annual output will be equivalent to the electricity consumption of around 90,000 homes.

The Fallago Rig wind farm was developed and built by EDF Energy Renewables, the UK subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles, which is owned jointly with EDF Energy.

“ We are proud to deliver this landmark development, a clear demonstration of our ability to handle very large-scale projects.”, said Christian Egal, CEO of EDF Energy Renewables.

The commissioning of two further wind farms – the 12 MW Glasmoor II facility in eastern England and the 6 MW Boundary Lane project in northern England – brings the capacity installed by EDF Energy Renewables since the beginning of 2013 to 162 MW, showing the acceleration in the pace of the Group’s expansion in the United Kingdom.

“ With more than 400 MW of onshore wind energy in operation and one offshore wind project in the final stage of construction, EDF Energy Renewables has become a major player in renewable energies.” added Christian Egal.
