EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the commissioning of Green Rigg wind farm by EDF Energy Renewables in England.
With a capacity of 36MW, Green Rigg wind farm is located in Northumberland, near the village of Otterburn. It is equipped with eighteen turbines manufactured by Vestas, each with a capacity of 2MW. The wind farm generates the equivalent of the electricity consumption of approximately 19,000 homes.

Green Rigg project was developed and built by EDF Energy Renewables, in partnership with Wind Prospect. EDF Energy Renewables is a joint venture, equally owned by EDF Energies Nouvelles and EDF Energy, created to serve both companies’ shared ambitions in the UK renewable market.

“Green Rigg wind power plant has been successfully commissioned and is completing our portfolio of assets in operations,” said Christian Egal, EDF Energy Renewables CEO. “I would like to pay tribute to the efforts of our teams as well as to the fruitful collaboration with the local communities”.

This new achievement bolsters the presence of the EDF Group in the UK, lifting its installed renewable capacity in the country to 300MW.
