EDF Energies Nouvelles commissions 400 MW in wind energy capacity in the United States

EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the commissioning by its North American subsidiary EDF Renewable Energy, of the 250 MW Roosevelt wind farm in New Mexico and the 150 MW Slate Creek wind plant in Kansas.

The 250 MW Roosevelt wind farm is composed of 125 turbines.

Located in Roosevelt County, eastern New Mexico, it represents the subsidiary’s first facility in the state.

The electricity generated by Roosevelt is sold to Southwestern Public Service Company (SPS), a subsidiary of Xcel Energy, under a 20-year fixed price Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

The Roosevelt facility’s output is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 138,000 average New Mexico homes.

The Slate Creek wind farm is located South of Wichita, Kansas.

This new facility equipped with 75 turbines has an  installed capacity of 150 MW.

Its energy production will be supplied at a fixed price to Great Plains Energy, parent company of Midwestern utilities, Kansas City Power & Light and KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations, under a 20-year PPA.

Every year, its electricity production will equal the energy consumption of 50,500 Kansas homes.

Today in the United States, EDF Energies Nouvelles has more than 3 gigawatts (GW) in gross installed renewable energy capacity.
