EDF Energies Nouvelles commissions the first 150 MW in capacity of Rivière-du-Moulin wind farm in Quebec

EDF Energies Nouvelles is announcing the commissioning of the first phase of Rivière-du-Moulin (150 MW) wind farm by its local subsidiary EDF EN Canada.

Located in Quebec, the first 150 MW tranche of the Rivière-du-Moulin wind farm consists of 75 Senvion turbines, each with 2 MW in unit capacity. The power generated at this wind farm is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of close to 35,000 homes.

Hydro-Québec Distribution will buy the electricity generated by Rivière-du-Moulin by under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
The facility’s operations and maintenance will be provided by EDF Renewable Services, the North American subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles.

The second tranche (200 MW) of Rivière-du-Moulin project is due to be commissioned by the end of 2015, lifting the wind farm’s total installed capacity up to 350 MW. Rivière-du-Moulin wind energy project is set to become the most powerful in Canada under a single power purchase agreement.

Rivière-du-Moulin project is part of a gigawatt programme of seven wind power installations awarded to the Group under the Hydro-Quebec Distribution calls for tenders.
